KPAI calls for end to child sex abuse

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) held a rally rejecting sexual violence against children during Car-Free Day on Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.
“Currently, Indonesia is still being colonized by criminals — perpetrators of sexual violence against children. It is now a fertile land for criminals,” said KPAI chairman Asrorun Niam Sholeh as quoted by Antara news agency.
During the rally, Niam read out a declaration supporting the independence of Indonesian children from any type of sexual violence.
Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Linda Amalia Sari, children’s rights activist Seto Mulyadi, Okke Hatta Rajasa who is the wife of Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, KPAI commissioners, as well as representatives from teacher, student and child protection organizations attended the event.
“It’s time for us to start a total war against sexual violence, especially [sexual violence perpetrated] against children, a war against all elements that become trigger factors, such as pornography, free sex, obscenity, homosexuality and other deviant sexual behavior,” said Niam.
He went on to say that it was time for all parties to work together in child protection.
“Let’s be committed to freeing this nation of any type of sexual violence against children. It’s time for us to declare the freedom of children from sexual violence on this earth,” Niam said during his speech.
All parties expressed their joint commitment to stamping out sexual violence against children in Indonesia through strategies such as applying tough sanctions to perpetrators of sexual abuse.
Rally participants later joined a march along Jl. MH Thamrin to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, where they enjoyed performances including barongsai (Chinese lion dance).

 I think sex crimes against children is an extraordinary crime . Because it will have an enormous impact for the child's life . Will destroy the child's psychological . And ruin the child's future . Therefore, we must act to prevent a recurrence of this incident for more keep children and law enforcement should be enforced . And jis case should be a benchmark in order to be better in the future . Because the case is a reflection of how bad human morals and how easily foreigners destroy our country . So it is time for us to start a total war against sexual violence , especially [ sexual violence ] against the children , the war against all the elements that trigger factor , such as pornography , promiscuity , obscenity , homosexuality and other deviant sexual behavior .
And let us commit to free this nation from any kind of sexual violence against children . It's time for us to declare the freedom of the children of sexual violence on this earth
